He directed a comprehensive project which included new irrigation, electrical, fencing, walkway, and installation of trees and hundreds of plants. His extensive expertise, care and attention to every detail gave me complete confidence in his work. What is unique and compelling about Rick’s approach is the sense of personal ownership Rick feels for each project. He listens carefully, is immediately responsive, and offers insightful advice and opinions when asked. He will continue to be involved in maintaining, updating, and seasonally adapting the garden he created for us.

I echo what the previous reviewers wrote. Rick at Aesthetic Gardens was an absolute pleasure to work with. We did not complete the work he recommended as we decided we were not quite ready yet, but when we are we will definitely call Rick again. He was always, always on time (rare!), returned calls and emails quickly, listened to our likes and dislikes (and honestly wanted to hear them!) and generally just went above and beyond every step of the way.

My husband and I just completed a project with Aesthetic Gardens. We had a tight time frame and wanted our backyard landscaped and an outdoor kitchen built. Within two week after signing a contract, our backyard was beautiful and I had the outdoor kitchen I had dreamed of. He has named his company appropriately – as he provides a great level of detail to the aesthetics and overall ambieance of what he creates. We knew how we wanted the yard to feel and immediately trusted them to create it for us.

Wonderful service, beautifull work, my yard has never looked this good.
4 years into it, i finally decided i would leave the landscaping to the pro’s…. i tried to be a HOME DEPOT warrior about the whole thing, but i guess i’m what you may call the grim reaper of the garden world.
these guys (rick especially) did everything right. since they finished up working on my property i’ve had 3 pizza parties so that i could show it off.

When our rental property in Felton (Santa Cruz County) burned down three years ago, we began making plans to rebuild. Anyone who has gone through such a process will tell you that it is a maze of paperwork and red tape. Our lot was a difficult lot to build on, and the whole thing was a challenge beyond my capabilities. I’ve got a doctorate in biblical studies, but don’t ask me anything about structural engineering or building permits! Bauman Builders and Aesthetic Gardens have been fantastic. They are the whole package, from initial design to final landscaping, and everything in between. Rick is helpful, honest, and well-connected. Marc is a first-rate contractor with a sharp mind for practical solutions to challenging problems. Jason is a whiz at navigating the paperwork and permitting processes. In the course of this project, these three guys have saved us a great deal of money, the work has been first-rate, and they are always friendly and available. They listen, and they take pride in their work. I would recommend Bauman Builders and Aesthetic Gardens to anyone.

We had never hired a landscaping company before, so we were a little nervous, but we were thoroughly satisfied with the work that Rick did. He created a plan for our backyard WITH us, listening to our thoughts and questions and figuring out what would be the best use of our space. (We were basically ripping the whole thing up and replacing everything.) He worked at our pace, and once we had nailed down our thoughts and he had drawn up a plan, he took us to see choices for hardscape and stones for walls, and brought us live plant samples. He is very easy to communicate with (in person and over email), and is very patient, especially since we are quite slow decision-makers. We are very happy with our experience working with Rick as well as the outcome of our backyard. We would definitely hire him again in the future!
